Clic Gallery is pleased to announce that LYLE OWERKO, the subject of our first show in New York, was recently named a winner of the 2009 Hasselblad Masters Award. The Hasselblad Masters Award is one of the most prestigious awards in photography and in honor of this recognition, Clic will be mounting a special encore presentation of Owerko's photoseries THE SAMBURU.

THE SAMBURU exhibits Owerko's beautiful black-and-white portraits of the members of an isolated, nomadic warrior tribe in Northern Kenya. Simultaneously magnificent and unsettling, Owerko’s stark, meticulous images act as a record of a people whose way of life is rapidly disappearing in the face of drought and ecological damage. A portion of the proceeds from print sales go to the Thorn Tree Project, which supports education for Samburu children.
